The Deanship of the School of Health Sciences of Ioannina University during its sessions no 10/25-9-2014 and 18/8-9-2015 and taking into account:

  1. the proposal of the Committee, established by the Deanship (session no 6/ 17-3-2014)
  2. the provisions of Articles 5, 9, and 80, para. 22 (a) of the Law 4009/2011 "Structure, operation, quality assurance of studies and internationalization of higher education" (Government Gazette A' 195 – 06/09/11) as amended and in force under the provisions of Law 4076/2012 "Regulations of matters related to Higher Education Institutions and other provisions" (Government Gazette A' 159 – 10/08/12)

has defined the prerequisites and criteria for granting the Title of Emeritus Professor in the Faculty/Department of the School of Health Sciences as listed below:

 

1. Prerequisites

  1. The nominee is expected to have achieved the rank of Professor and have a minimum of three (3) years of employment in the Faculty/Department of our School, prior to retirement or resignation . The present prerequisite is to be in force until the Organisation of our Institution is published.
  2. The nominee is expected to have been nominated as Professor Emeritus by at least three (3) active members of academic staff of the University of Ioannina, one of whom should substantiate that proposal in person in front of the competent bodies. An updated Curriculum Vitae of the nominee is to be attached to the nomination proposal.
  3. The nomination proposal should also be supported by the written consent of the Laboratory/Clinic concerned, as well as that of the Division the nominee belonged to.

 

2. Criteria

2A. Contribution to the University of Ioannina

The nominee is expected to:

  1. have produced independent research work, as a member of the academic community of the University of Ioannina, as evidenced in the international bibliography: in particular he/she must have papers published in high impact international scholarly journals as corresponding author affiliated with Ioannina University
  2. have developed his own research team within the Faculty/Department or School of our Institution: indicatively, he/she must have successfully supervised completed Doctoral Theses affiliated with Ioannina University
  3. have developed independent teaching work within the framework of undergraduate courses of his/her Faculty/Department or School of Ioannina University and have outstanding teaching performance or post-graduate level supervision.
  4. have obtained funding from competitive research programs or educational programs as scientific/institutional coordinator affiliated with Ioannina University
  5. have performed considerable administrative services within his/her Faculty/Department or School of our Institution in general: indicatively, he/she must have been an active member of administrative bodies of our University or of committees upon matters of education, research, infrastructure, evaluation, academic organisation, or to have actively contributed to establishing a link between the University and society by informing upon or promoting topics relevant to his/her academic field of study.

2B. International Recognition

The nominee is expected to

  1. have produced independent high standard research work as evidenced in the international bibliography: in particular he/she must have papers published in high impact international scholarly journals included among the top 10% of the journals of his/her scientific field
  2. have produced a sufficient number of research papers as First and/or Corresponding author in high impact international scholarly journals, with a significant number or quality of citations in the international bibliography; the number of the papers and citations or the quality of the citations is to be evaluated according to the scientific field of the nominee
  3. have presented his/her work as an invited speaker in international conferences or accredited foreign Universities
  4. have been awarded with notable prizes or distinctions of/on his/her work by the international scientific community, in the course of international conferences, prestigious research or academic scholarships, his/her contribution as a reviewer of research projects or papers to be published in high impact international scholarly journals

 

3. Remarks

The above mentioned criteria should not be construed in a strictly numerical sense, but should be taken into account for an overall evaluation of the nominee in the context of a substantial academic discussion, appropriate to be conducted during the election procedure in the competent bodies of Ioannina University.
